“The Grade 3 Bed O’ Roses Handicap on Saturday at Belmont Park is a puzzler for handicappers. Of the eleven horses entered, a case can be made for more than half of them. Demand value, because all of the contenders have their pros and cons. Let’s take a closer look at the race below.
#5-Hot Stones (8-1) looks like a solid upset candidate. She came within a half-length of the highly-regarded La Verdad going a mile locally last month, earning a solid 92 Beyer in the process, and cleared her N2X condition vs. open company two back. She likes the Belmont Park main track (3-1-2-0), sheds 6 pounds off her latest effort, continues to train well, and will be reunited with winning rider Irad Ortiz. She’ll have a hot pace to close into, and will offer value. Blinkers will be added as well. There’s lots to like here. I’ll bet on #5-Hot Stones across the board (win/place/show) at odds of 6-1 or better.”
