Oceanside Stakes Betting - Ocean Fun

Posted by Brian Mulligan on 7/16/2012 4:10:37 PM

Who: Thoroughbreds –  Stoney Fleece and Boat Trip (win).
What: Horse Racing Betting Tips –  The split Oceanside Stakes
Where: Del Mar
When: Wednesday July 18

The traditional opening day feature at Del Mar is the Oceanside Stakes and like this year, it has been split more often than not and 5 years ago because of the number of entrants, it was run in three divisions. It will be run at a mile on the grass with a $100,000 purse and online sports betting players have some interesting options.

Last year Mr. Commons came from third to last to win this race going away with a 92 Beyer.

This year the Oceanside will be run as the 6th and 9th races with 9 entrants in both heats.

Let’s look at the sixth first. John Sadler, who saddled 3 Graded stakes winners at Betfair at Hollywood Park Saturday will send out Koast, who has sub :44 speed and will likely be send hard from the rail.

Canuletmedowneasy is coming off a clever third in a $74K stakes. Midnight Crooner just won an $80,000 betting sites optional but was all out to do to it and it may have zapped him.

Facoltoso has won 2 of 5 this year in Italy and will be making his stateside debut while Guidopanzini was crushed in his only turf out.

Boat Trip turned into a new horse since being put on grass and is seeking his 4th straight win on the surface.

You Know I Know has a bit of talent, but just broke his maiden while Blingo is back on his preferred surface after losing in a Grade 3 event.

Chips All In has some semblance of speed but can’t see him clearing here.
In the other division Majestic City will kick it off from the rail and is coming off a dull try in a $400,000 stakes at Charles Town.

Power Foot was life and death for the lone win while Paratito won his debut in Italy at 12-1 but was nowhere to be seen in his stateside bow.

Tom Proctor saddles the sharp and versatile Old Time Hockey and Julio Canani will tighten the girth on My Best Brother, who is shooting for his third in a row.

Tones needed his last race but he gave up the ghost quickly while Stoney Fleece has some back class to draw from as a Grade 3 winner and is coming off a tough beat in a $100,000 loss at Golden Gate.

Longview Drive was tons best of the rest when a neck loser in a sprint last time. Holy Candy must deal with the outside slot and is making his grass debut.

Stoney Fleece only ran poorly once this year and he had a legit excuse that day. Fleece has run well at a number of different venues and the feeling is he can reach back and show his class Wednesday. In the first division, there is a ton of speed in the race and it could set up perfectly for the long-fused Boat Trip.

Bet each of these on the horse betting sites to win and let’s get lucky.
