Must-Use Horses in Breeders’ Cup Exotics (Part 1-Friday)

Posted by Pete Mitchell on 10/31/2013 1:08:23 PM

Who: Thoroughbreds – Worldly, Royal Delta, Beholder
What: Horse Racing Betting Tips – The Breeders’ Cup
Where: Santa Anita
When: Friday and Saturday, November 1st and 2nd

The Breeders’ Cup is not only a spectacle for horse racing fans, it’s also a golden opportunity for serious bettors to make a score. As I’ve pointed out many times, these huge wagering pools are filled with ‘square money’. Thus, the payoffs, especially for exotic wagers, are often incredibly high. I’ll be listing some horses I think should be part of your exotic wagering strategy. Unfortunately, space constraints prevent me from providing much in the way of handicapping insights. Therefore, you may want to check out my article from last Friday, as my opinions haven’t changed significantly.

BC Marathon: I’m not crazy about anything in here, but reports are that #10-Worldly (6-1) is doing great…key him in all exotics.

BC Juvenile Turf: This isn’t exciting, but I believe the winner comes from among the three favorites…U.S.-based #5-Bobby’s Kitten (5-2) and the two Euros, #2-Giovanni Boldini (7-2) and #4-Outstrip (4-1). Amazingly, Giovanni Boldini, a West Virginia-bred, was a $675,000 yearling purchase by the powerhouse Tabor/Magnier group. Outstrip has made a good impression since his arrival at Santa Anita.

BC Dirt Mile: The good #10-Verrazano (3-1) probably wins this…but he’s a question mark after the Travers flop and subsequent layoff. #12-Goldencents (4-1) is marooned in Post 12, but has the speed to grab a good position heading into the first turn. Our sleeper is the classy #2-Golden Ticket (12-1), who’s in good form, should enjoy a ground-saving, stalking trip, and is reunited with Rosario.

BC Juvenile Fillies Turf: Like in the Juvenile Turf, I’m looking at a pair of talented Europeans plus a North-American-based runner. Use #2-Al Thakhira (6-1), #8-Chriselliam (6-1) and from the Mark Casse barn, #14-My Conquestadory (9-2).

BC Distaff: If #4-Royal Delta (8-5) is on her game, she’ll run this outstanding group off their feet, earning a rare BC three-peat in the process. Trainer Mott has tightened the screws on this marvelous mare since her prep for this race, and she looks ready for a top effort. #5-Beholder (5-2) is in career form, and will push Royal Delta to the limit.

Those are my horse racing betting tips for Friday’s Breeders’ Cup card. Look for Part 2 of this article, covering Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup card, by 6:00 PM ET today (if not sooner).
