Who: Thoroughbreds –  Dullahan (key top and bottom in trifecta).
What: Horse Racing Betting Tips – Kentucky Derby
Where: Churchill Downs
When: Saturday May 5th

And the winner is?

The wait is over, the best online betting sites preps are history, the horses have been coddled and refined and the owners have been bragging up a storm but it all comes down to execution this Saturday going a mile and a quarter for glory in the Kentucky Derby.

Let’s take a look at the serious contenders.

Bodemeister loomed a serious horse before his coming out party at Hot Springs. He will try to put a lid on the history books and be the first winner of the Derby without racing at 2 in 130 years. There is a concern that he showed his betting online hand to the other poker players in the Arkansas Derby and there was another horse that cruised rolling into the Derby and was nowhere at CD as the chalk, Bellamy Road.

Hansen showed a new dimension coming from a bit off the pace in the Gotham but there is plenty of speed to go with him here. He also came home solidly in the Blue Grass but the real question is can he take the heat of a projected sizzling pace and still be around to talk about it?

Union Rags has one real blemish on this form and that’s when he was too late last time. There is also some quality blood on the bottom side as his winning dam dropped a runner that won at the Kentucky Derby distance on grass. One obvious plus is the solid local effort when possibly the best. Major player.

Creative Cause was caught wide in his San Felipe score and ran his eyeballs out in defeat last time in the first time without blinkers. He’s consistent as can be and he has positional speed.

Gemologist wants to beat ya and all he does is win. The blood is certainly there as his sire was a double BC Classic hero.

I’ll Have Another shows up and runs except on the sloppy stuff. He ran well in his last but that may have taken something out of him. He figures to be mid-pack early hoping to get first run on the deep closers;

Alpha was pinballed last time but still put his head down and tried hard. Bred to run till the cows come home, he gave the unbeaten runner all he could handle last time and was getting to him at the wire;

Dullahan is coming to the race right and the blood is there as he is kin to Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird. Once given real estate to negotiate, he became an entirely new horse. Far from disgraced the last time in town and the pace figures to be ripe for a stone-cold closer;

Expect Bodemeister, Creative Cause, Hansen and Gemologist all to get good trips behind suspect speed early on. They will be fighting each other in the lane and then Dullahan will appear out of the clouds and swoop by for the win. Key Dullahan on top and bottom in the trifecta with the four mentioned and Alpha and I’ll Have Another.

Good luck with the Kentucky Derby betting and have a mint julep on me.
