HORSES ON THE RADAR

Posted by on 2/5/2014 8:08:23 PM

With the hot and heavy Triple Crown Trail starting to heat up, let’s try to isolate some horses around the country that are coming to form quickly and that can be used by online sports betting site players to bulk up the bankroll with classier things to come.

Horses to watch can come from the stakes ranks or from the claimers and when you think about it, claimers are the meat and potatoes of most racing cards so let’s kick off there.

One good place to start when looking for a prime bet is the trainer and we’re talking the successful ones. Mike Pino fits that category and he trains Mr. Online, who is one tough cookie that has won 8 of his 27 races in his career.

He’s a turf specialist and Pino claimed him about 11 months ago at Gulfstream. Since the claim this guy has won 6 times since, and he is truly versatile. He can stalk and cash sprinting, or wire a field going long.

This son of Silent Name proved his class last year running second in a Grade 1 in Canada and he has won at a number of different venues.

Key this guy on top the next time he shows in the entries.

Kulboyz is by the quick sire Bring the Heat and out of a stakes placed dam that banked over $100,000. He was totally disrespected in his racing debut at 17-1 but he was on the muscle from the get go and cashed going away with an 87 Beyer. It’s never easy to beat winners right back but watch his next race and if the foes are soft, take a swing.

Put on your best Cajun duds and take a look at Mutasaawy at the Fair Grounds. This guy is cut out to be a nice horse, he cost $350,000 and he now has been given two races on dirt. He was wide in his last race but clearly prefers grass. There is class on the bottom side as his winning dam is kin to a Grade 1 winner and also to near $500,000 earner Spellbinder.

If he comes back on grass, double down.

Fable could become a very good money story. By turf monster English Channel, he was squeezed on the first turn but kept trying to the end and was getting to the winner late. He gets some class from the dam as she won nearly 200,000 and took a stakes. He’ll need help on the front end but was claimed and looms an astute purchase.

It’s not easy to get value on the inner strip of the Big A, but this guy could be a nice price next time. It took awhile for him to figure it out, but he was off slow in last, was hung out to dry and was beaten by a runner that used the inside bias to his advantage. Trainer by the high percentage Charlton Baker, he could mature with class with three 6-figure earners in the family.

Look for these runners back in against weak competition and let’s get lucky.
