Holy Bull Stakes Betting - No Bull

Posted by Brian Mulligan on 1/24/2013 5:48:16 PM

What: Holy Bull Stakes
Who:  Frac Daddy (win)
Where: Gulfstream Park
When: Sunday, January 26

It’ll be a take no prisoners deal Saturday in the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes at Gulfstream at 8 and a half furlongs. Online sports betting site players will be looking at a $400,000 purse and the horse that will be in the spotlight is the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner and champion Shanghai Bobby.

Bobby will break from the rail and he has not missed a beat in his works coming to the race. He has shown the ability to lead and succeed and track the pace within striking distance.

Trainer Pletcher was happy with the drill on the 20th. It was in company with Verrazano and they both finished evenly. Verrazano burst onto the racing scene to open 2013 winning his debut by nearly 8 lengths with a 94 Beyer.

Unbeaten after 5 outs, but this is not the most important race on Bobby’s agenda this season so it will not be end all if he just gets a good ‘move forward’ off the race.

Frac Daddy has fired every single time but will have to come from a bit off the splits this time. His horse betting connections are sky high on him.

Clearly Now has to prove he can go this far. His lone sibling to race cashed three times, but all in sprints.

Bern Identity is repeatedly proven fresh and he has run every single time. Like the fact he showed a new wrinkle last time when he was far back early but he came running and the race came back live. The show horse took a $50K optional next out, the trainer took a $100K stakes and the winner repeated in the Grade 3 Sham at Santa Anita.

Sr. Quisqueyano will be making his Graded stakes debut. Over 5 clear in the last race and the show horse was 8 lengths clear of the fourth finisher. He was just crushed by Itsmyluckyday and that has to be addressed.

Dewey Square was just beaten by Frac Daddy and outside of going wide, he really had no excuse. He has trained well. Set down in the drill on Sunday and there were some other runners on the tab at the distance. O’Prado Again, who won the Grade 2 Remsen in 2011, posted the second-best 5-furlong drill.

Itsmyluckyday has responded to turf to dirt maneuvers for two of his 4 wins. He was caught wide in the two prior races before his last clear win when he kicked off 2013 with a winning 95 Beyer.

Tulira Castle won on the conventional dirt for the first time in his last score in optional claiming land.

Fredericksburg is in the very clever hands of  trainer Mike Matz but the colt appears in a tad too tough. His only win came in a grass route as the chalk. This youngster could have sulked after breaking poorly in last but he tried till the end and could be more involved early with the blinks this time.

Joshua’s Comprise broke his maiden vs. winners by a nose but since, he has been beaten double digits every time and also by a number of today’s foes.

When the online betting smoke clears expect Bobby to gun from the fence and try to steal it but he will have company and that just might do him in. Frac Daddy is inexperienced but he will grow up before our eyes with a break-out victory Saturday.
