El Prado Stakes Betting - El Prado

Posted by Blake Frazier on 12/20/2012 5:28:17 PM

What: El Prado Stakes
Who: Teaks North (key first and 2nd in the trifecta with Tune Me In, Salto, Hollinger, Nikki’s Sandcastle and Beau Choix)
Where: Gulfstream Park
When: Saturday, December 22

Even with slim pickings out there with Christmas just around the corner online sports betting enthusiasts can keep sharp with full fields and contentious races like the El Prado at Gulfstream on Saturday.

Named for the clever sire that gave us Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Artie Schiller and champion Kitten’s Joy, the El Prado Saturday at a mile on the grass will offer only a $75,000 stakes but there are some quality runners in the line up.

There is nothing like a full field of well-matched runners to get the juices flowing and maybe we can get lucky in the gimmicks.

Bad Debt draws the rail and he has never been out of the money on the Gulfstream grass course.

Teaks North brings plenty of back class to the party. He is coming off a layoff but he won the Grade 1 Turf Handicap here last year also off a vacation.

Get Serious was crushed sprinting in last and will need a turn around.

Kharafa comes off a clever win in New York but this will be his first venture into a stakes.

Salto has had some bad online betting trips and is only win has been in allowance company stateside but when that man Todd Pletcher saddles, anything can happen.

Tune Me In has won two Grade 3s this year at the shore but is 0 for 2 locally.

Xin Xu Lin can run all day but sometimes it takes these South Americans time to acclimate.

Empire Builder was a tiring third in his best try on the local grass while Zimmer has been handled easily in his last three stakes attempts.

Beau Choix was bothered at the break in last but that can happen when a runner has limited speed.

Hoofit has never won on the grass in this country while Hobbs has been in the exacta in 7 of his 8 career efforts but he exited a 28% barn two back and now is conditioned by a 4% trainer.

Hollinger faced the solid Wise Dan two back, had an ideal prep at Calder and in his both stakes tries at Gulfstream, he was beaten only a half length and one of those losses came in a Grade 1.

Nikki’s Sandcastle snapped seconditis in last but it was a taxing effort.

Associate will only go if the race is moved to the dirt but he has the speed to be dangerous while if there is a scratch, Tell Tale Friend will draw in but he appears on the cheap side.

There seems to be a fair amount of speed in here and will a full field, clear sailing will be mandatory. Finding a horse that can sit 4 or 5 off the pace with a good post and the ability to quicken, could be the ticket.

Teaks North fits the bill for Richard Dutrow. He has won a third of his starts, has earned over a million, is proven on the course and took two Grade 1s last year.

Key him first and second in the trifecta with Tune Me In, Salto, Hollinger, Nikki’s Sandcastle and Beau Choix.

Good luck with your horse betting.
