Breeders Cup Sprint Betting – The Best Horses Sprint For Big Money

Posted by Brian Mulligan on 10/25/2012 6:21:36 PM

What: Breeders’ Cup Sprint Preview
Where: Santa Anita
When: Saturday, November 3

The fastest horses in world will be going three quarters of a mile with $1.5 million on the line in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint and there is no room for a slow break, a traffic jam, texting on the run or a misstep at the very wrong time.

Trainer Bob Baffert, who else, will have a pair set for the horse betting Sprint.

His runner Coil just upset in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Sprint Championship while Capital Account ran second in the same race. The success over the strip is huge.

The runners that completed the superfecta in that race also may rebound. Hall of Fame trainer Richard Mandella saw his charge Jimmy Creed run third to Coil while last year’s sprint winner Amazombie, who is out to defend his title in the Sprint.

Trained by the much-underrated Bill Spawr, Amazombie lost as the chalk in his last race but has won 12 of his last 28 races, can sit close to the pace or come from mid-pack and he may have just needed his race last time.

A pair of betting sites winners from back East will be heard from and they are named Sum of the Parts, who just won the Phoenix taking his 5th in 10 starts and he is in the good hands of Tom Amoss.

Poseidon’s Warrior has proven he can step up to the place as he took the Grade 1 Vanderbilt in the summer and he may have not cared for the going in the Vosburgh last out while Justin Phillip could have just been dead short in the Vosburgh but he has run well at a number of different surfaces.

One can’t disrespect The Lumber Guy. He was the weaker half of the coupling in the Vosburgh but he proved his Jerome Stakes win earlier in the year was no fluke when he stalked and rallied to under a hand ride to win his last race with a sizzling 110 Beyer.

The Santa Anita surface this fall meet has played on the dull side but don’t be shocked if that changes on the big day. Traditionally, tracks around the country like to skim the surface and have the absolutely faster possible track for big days.

Even if that happens, and I’m betting it will, speed may not just be the order of the day. With this race and most of the BC events full subscribed and close, the best horse doesn’t always win but pace, like on every other racing day, makes the race.

To try to get an inside edge, get out the midnight oil and watch the races the day before the Cup begins.

Online sports betting enthusiasts should always look to the past for clues to the future.
Know this.

The Sprint has had more winners paying $20 or more than any race on the BC card. Going into this season, 13 of the 27 Sprint winners paid 9-1 or more so don’t be afraid to shoot for the moon here.
