Breeders Cup Betting – Breeder’s Cup Action Saturday

Posted by Brian Mulligan on 10/30/2012 6:49:47 PM

What: Breeders’ Cup Action Saturday
Where: Santa Anita
When: November 3

Unknown is the key word concerning the Juvenile Turf as Dundonnell may go the slight favorite in one flat-out scamble. George Vancouver has been Group 1 placed twice this year but has been a bit inconsistent. In his second at Deauville in August, he got a boost when the sports betting sites winner that day repeated as chalk in the Group 1 Middle Park on October 13.

The Filly and Mare Sprint may be owned by Groupie Doll. A Graded winner early in her career, her trainer Bill Bradley added the blinkers to the equation 4 races ago and all she has done is win 2 Grade 1s, and 2 Grade 2s since. On top of that she worked like a champion in a :34.74 blowout over a loose and chewed up surface.

Contested has a homecourt thing going on with two freak jobs at Anita. Musical Romance, Turbulent Descent and Dust and Diamonds will make it interesting.
Slightly lesser horse betting sites stars pit skills in the Dirt Mile but Emcee may need no introduction. He tracked a sub 1:09 and change pace before drawing off in the Grade 1 Forego. An inside edge could go to the Bob Baffert charge Fed Biz, who is unbeaten after 2 Santa Anita starts.

Agility is key quality in the Turf Sprint as California Flag will be looking for a Glory Days run. This pro is a specialist on this trickey hillside course and he won this very race in 2009 when he sizzled down the hill in :43 flat to post the winning 105 Beyer. Bridgetown and Unbridled’s Note will take action and an outside look should go to the invading Starspangledbanner.

Those with aspirations on next year’s Kentucky Derby are looking for the money in the Juvenile and it may be a case of Bobby the man against Bobby the horse. Bob Baffert has Power Broker, a recent Grade 1 local winner on top of his game while Todd Pletcher will saddle the 4 for 4 Grade 1 Champagne winner Shaghai Bobby

Stamina is the key word in the Turf. Don’t be shocked if foreign flavor is the order of the day in the Turf but Point of Entry will try to hold up the American edge as he is looking for his 6th win in a row. St. Nicholas Abbey is using the same stepping-stone he did last year before he upset in the Turf when he came from mid-pack to win going away with a 105 Beyer.

World-class trainer Andre Fabre will likely be represented by Shareta. This filly is a multiple Group 1 winner and may not have adored the soft going in the Arc on October 7.
Trailblazer ran well in his stateside debut and could be the bomb in the gimmicks.

Speed will be the order of the day in the Sprint and look for the defending champ to shine. Amazombie didn’t have to win his last race but just get something out of it. His trainer Bill Spawr had this to say recently, Spawr: “We ran some blood tests on him after his last race and they were a little off, showed a bit of stress and dehydration but all is tests are good now and I’m confident he’ll run a big race”.

ome of the classiest runners have won the Mile over the years and this year will be no different. Obviously will try to steal it and he just might. Wise Dan looms the logical chalk but the pick is Excelebration, who is 3 for 5 this year and the two losses came at the hands of superstar Frankel.

The granddaddy of them all closes out the BC Classic action and Game on Dude is clearly the one to deny. The Dude is unbeaten this year, has relaxed a bit and seems stronger this year and appears to be coming to the race as good as he can be. Richard’s Kid rates an online betting upset look and Ron the Greek has a winning history locally.

The Picks:
Juvenile Turf: George Vancouver
Filly and Mare Sprint: Groupie Doll
Dirt Mile: Emcee
Turf Sprint: California Flag
Juvenile: Shaghai Bobby
Turf: Shareta
Sprint: Amazombie
Mile: Excelebration
Classic: Game on Dude
