Betting On Breeders Cup - Super Saturday Ramifications

Posted by Brian Mulligan on 10/1/2012 6:27:38 PM

We are coming off a great weekend of racing with Super Saturday now in the books but online sports betting enthusiasts have to look honestly at the results and attempt to project how they will affect the action on Breeders’ Cup weekend.

First off, know that the Santa Anita strip played toward speed. It was very hard to come from left field and that obviously gave the speed horses the edge at crunch time. Back east, the Belmont strip seemed to favor runners on the inside as it appeared difficult to rally wide and get there in time.

Sure, Bob Baffert’s star Executiveprivilege was probably going to win anyway, but she freaked on the lead.

Executiveprivilege controlled the pace and the outcome but she has never really posted a superior Beyer. That continued on Saturday as she earned an 84 digit.

Her rider has this to say in the Santa Anita notes, Rafael Bejarano: “She impressed me today. When I saw a lot of scratches in the race, especially the speed, I had no choice but to send her. She brought me to the lead easy and I was concerned a little bit, but after the first turn I knew I had so much horse. She was so relaxed. I think after this race she’ll be ready for the Breeders’ Cup. She’s going to be tough.”

And once again Game on Dude just loves the Anita strip. He got an ideal two-hole trip, drew off by over 3 lengths at the wire and will bring a lasting 109 Beyer into the Breeders’ Cup Classic on November 3.

Baffert has the leader in the clubhouse in Dude and he summarized the victory this way, Baffert: “The break was really important for him. Sometimes, he wants to get a little edgy in the game, but he broke really well. Plan A was if he breaks well, don’t move on him. He found a seam right away and got him to the outside. They slowed it down, so he just sat there and waited, then asked him to run in the stretch. It was a prep that you want for a horse like this.”

As loaded as Baffert is for the Cup, he has nothing on trainer Bill Mott, who watched his trainees Royal Delta and Flat Out win the Beldame and the Jockey Club Gold Cup respectively.

Besides those two horse betting sites stars, he will bring potent runners To Honor and Serve and Ron the Greek to Arcadia.

The Beldame was a kind of mano-a-mano fight from the get go. The second choice It’s Tricky, a star in her own right, made the lead and tried to dictate the action but Royal Delta took over after three quarters, had 8 lengths at the top of the lane, then extended her margin to post a 103 Beyer.

Flat Out was game in the Gold Cup, settling early, then collaring Stay Thirsty in the finale strides. Thirsty was tons best of the rest.

Even though Mott’s student To Honor and Serve ran poorly in the Kelso, the trainer was undaunted by the effort. Mott: “He really didn’t at all. He broke a little sluggish, got bumped a little leaving the gate; he just put in a dull effort. He’s coming off a very big effort in Saratoga….maybe it just took more out of him than what we could see. He was eating well, feeling good, worked well. The only good thing is, I believe that, win, lose or draw, it was the best way to get him to the Breeders’ Cup Classic.”

The lesson learned here is that the elite trainers have a master plan and they also can adapt. Online betting players have to read in between the lines and try to figure out which of Saturday’s racers got the most out of the weekend.
