Betting Horse Racing - Bobby Ambushed

Posted by Brian Mulligan on 1/28/2013 5:54:24 PM

The writing was kind of on the wall in the Holy Bull against Shanghai Bobby as he didn’t scare anybody away and he caught a race with other speed. Online betting site players know I had the right idea in trying to beat him, but I didn’t come up with Itsmyluckyday.

His trainer, Eddie Plesa, was confident before the race and he told everybody he was. His horse needed a track record performance to beat Bobby and he did it in clever style.

Lucky got the mile and a sixteenth in 1:41.81 which broke the 1:42.35 record that Endorsement recorded last year.

To be fair to Bobby, he didn’t get a sports betting breather at all. His hand was kind of forced since he drew the rail and he gunned out of there. He was pushed every step of the way and was over 11 lengths clear of the show horse.

There is some nice blood flowing through Itsmyluckyday. His dam was a double winner and the dam is kin to a stakes winner. Dam also is kin to successful router and near $185,000 earner Summer Sunset.

Itsmyluckyday recorded a 104 Beyer figure and that stands up very well. The winner of the Holy Bull last year, Algorithms nailed the win with a 105 figure.

The immediate future is up to the horse Plesa indicated after the win. We’ll see how he comes out of the race, but I’d lean toward the Florida Derby. He’s going to tell me what he wants to do. Then I’ll sit down with our partners and we’ll discuss it.”

Todd Pletcher, who trains Shanghai Bobby, took it in stride. “The winner was very good today. We got a good trip, and didn’t expect to break the track record by three-fifths of a second in order to win. I was happy.”

This is no one hit wonder Mr. Eddie Plesa. His father was a top rider and Eddie has been going to the races since Kindergarten. He was walking hots on the backstretch when he was 6 and by the age of 16 his father had stopped riding and was training.

He let Eddie manage a string of horses in the summer and that was the start of something big.

Currently Eddie is popping at 19% at the Gulfstream meeting and 11 of his other 47 starters have run in the money.

He doesn’t always have his runner primed to run huge at first asking as in the last 5 years he has only hit with 9% of his debuters. After he gives a horse an education, is the time to dig in. He is 19% with second time starters in that same time frame with a median payoff of 5-2.

When Eddie spots his runners for action, get down. With Maiden Special Weight runners dropping in for a tag for the first time he has popped at 24% the last 5 years.

When Plesa gets a horse good, he can keep them good. He has hit with 18% of his last-out winners in the last 5 years. And he is a master at spotting horses. When his runners come off an in-the-money effort, they win 37% of the time.

Lastly, like his horse betting quotes indicate, he will do right by this sophomore and all his horses. He lets them tell him what to do, just like what a good trainer should do.
