Bet On Filly and Mare Sprint – The Fillies And Mares Mix It Up At Santa Anita

Posted by Brian Mulligan on 10/22/2012 6:28:06 PM

What: Filly and Mare Sprint Preview
Where: Santa Anita
When: Saturday, November 3

Another million will be on the line in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint at the demanding distance of 7 furlongs and the field will more than likely be evenly matched for online sports betting fans to evaluate.

Last year Musical Romance was like sweet rhapsody in this race as she was coming off a tough head defeat on the synthetic at Keeneland in a Grade 2 but got an ideal stalking trip at Churchill to win this Sprint despite being bumped with a 98 Beyer.

Turbulent Descent will be in revenge mode after losing this race last year as the chalk. She had a valid excuse as she was mauled at the break, did make the lead briefly at the top of the lane, but had nothing left in the tank when the real racing began.

She has been lightly raced this year. She took a minor stakes in California in June, was rested until August when she took the Grade 1 Ballerina, then was caught wide in her last in the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom.

She appears to have rebounded nicely from the defeat if that best of 67 bullet work on October 14 is any indication.

Groupie Doll will have her horse betting supporters and rightfully so. She has been sensational this year once she got away from Gulfstream Park.

She shipped to Keeneland in April and won a Grade 1 and then proved it was no fluke by posting a winning 112 Beyer taking the Humana Distaff.

This machine then won her next two, the last on October 6 by over 6 lengths with a 102 figure.

Her ability to be placed anywhere and still perform is her ace in the hole.

Contested has only lost once this year and she was at the wrong distance that day. She was guzzled down on the lead and she doesn’t want to run like that. She needs her head and the ability to gun right out of there and roll.

Trained by Bob Baffert, this daughter of the great Ghostzapper has tons of upside to her and in her two races at Santa Anita, she won both by over a dozen lengths combined.

Jewels can be a girl’s best friend and Dust and Diamonds has been a very good friend to her backers.

Slow to go through her conditions, this Steve Asmussen student went :21 and change in her only effort at Santa Anita and understandably tired but she has reeled off three straight wins since, the last with a 102 Beyer in the Gallant Bloom.

This gal is coming to the race right.

Others that will demand scrutiny in this race include Rumor, Judy the Beauty, Reneesgotzip, Switch and possibly It’s Tricky.

As this race approaches, try to pay strict attention to detail and how each runner is progressing at Santa Anita. The Anita surface has played on the sluggish side so far this meeting, but traditionally tracks around the country will scrape the top of the track on big days to produce faster times.

Online betting sites sports players have to zero in on runners that have won or are projected to like the Arcadia surface.
